Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It’s located at the confluence
of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. Its name
translates to “White City.”The Church of Saint Sava is a Serbian Orthodox church located
on the Vracar plateau in Belgrade. It is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the
world and ranks amongst the ten largest church buildings in the world. From its location,
it dominates Belgrade's cityscape, and is perhaps the most monumental building in
the city.Belgrade Fortress is the core and the oldest section of the urban area of
Belgrade, on the confluence of the River Sava and Danube. For centuries, the city
population was concentrated only within the walls of the fortress, and thus the history
of the fortress, until most recent times, equals the history of Belgrade
